15 weeks!!

Here are a couple pictures. We are 15 weeks along today March 31, 2008. We haven't taken any since it seems like I haven't changed much...which may be true...but I know I probably will. So we took this picture today. My sister keeps wanting pictures for the album that she is making...so to be funny we did one of me pulling my stomach in and one of my pushing it out!

Either way, all the pictures posted here are the same day!!

Pregnancy is going great so far. I haven't had much morning sickness. A little gagging here and there be mostly that seems to be from this annoying cold that I have had. I have had it since beginning of February and it keeps going through different stages. I am coughing pretty bad for the past several days. It will/has to go away soon!!!

We can't really feel the baby moving or see me bulging yet. I am sure it is a gradual thing, on showing anyway. We have heard the heartbeat several times, basically at each OB appt. I can't believe how exciting this is!!!

My diabetes has been good too. They have switched my insulin to at meals and at bedtime. The insulin is equal and proportionate to the meals/food/carbs that I eat at each meal. This involves close carb counting. Then I also get snacks in between meals. Basically I am losing weight too. From Jan 16, 2008 (at the Drs scale) until today at my scale at home, I have lost 16 pounds. Now the Drs scale was in the afternoon and seemed fairly high. This was before we found out we were pregnant. But I think with all the carb counting, no Starbucks, not much eating out, etc, etc that has caused me to lose. I will check with the Dr to make sure they are Ok with this. I think they aren't minding because I had some extra 'cushion' to start with. Maybe my fat will just shrink and slowly show the baby :) Also Travis is cute and says that the baby is scooping out my fat like an ice cream cone...what a funny daddy!!

Anyway can't type too much more...should save some for later. I will let you know if there are any other updates!

PS we do want to find out the gender of little Sharp but we don't have any for sure names picked out yet.

8 weeks 2 days

Here is our Baby Sharp at 8 weeks 2 days old!! This was the best Valentines Day present that either of us could give each other! Travis got to be there with me...and of course it seemed so unbelievable! Thank you God for this wonderful little human being growing inside me!

PREGNANT!?!!!!

February 11, 2008 Travis and I decided to do a pregnancy test, nothing new though since we do them every couple months anyway...and this is what we saw.....!!!!!!!!

Of course we were ecstatic and wondering if it was real. I, Rachel, had gone off birth control in August of 2003. We were married on July 10, 1999 and we waited until we were into a house before taking that big step of 'trying for kids'.

Then we waited. and waited. and waited.

We never really knew why but here were a couple reasons we thought we could have been having trouble conceiving: I have diabetes and had never been able to fully control it. I always was 'trying' but maybe not fully trying..I don't know. Finally I got put on injectable insulin about 2 years ago or so and that seemed to help.

Also I have/had PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome)..which means there are cysts on my ovaries basically not letting eggs out. I was on medication for that, but the diabetes medication actually should have helped that too.

Anyway...long story short I will say that God 'opened my womb' and decided that He wanted us to conceive. That is really all I can say about it. I can't explain any other reason. He decided that a child right now in our life would be good:) Yeah I will say to that!!!!
